Chocolate Bites
Need a quick sweet treat to spoil your spouse or thank a
co-worker? These puff pastry Chocolate Bites are just what
you need! You can use frozen pastry sheets, but why not make
Homemade Puff Pastry to show you really care? Makes 24 bites,
so you can give away the good looking ones and keep a few
"seconds" to sample yourself!
1 batch of Quick Puff Pastry
24 small squares of chocolate
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Spray 24 mini muffin-pan cups with vegetable cooking spray.
Roll the pastry 12” x 8” rectangle (see note). Cut the pastry into 24 squares, each of them 2” x 2”. Press each pastry square into a mini muffin-pan cup and put a chocolate square into each. (You may also use mini-chocolate chips.) Bake for 15 minutes or until the pastries are golden brown at the edges. Let the pastries cool in the pan on a wire rack for 5 minutes, then remove the pastries and let cool to lukewarm before serving.
Notes
--Unless you have superhuman skills with a rolling pin, you will probably have to roll the dough out 13” x 9” and trim the edges straight. You’ll get better with practice!
--These are best eaten while still slightly warm and the chocolate is melted, but they are still pretty yummy the next day.
